Brief On Creative Ministries

Creative ministries is a group who has been called forth and equipped to win souls through performance of creative arts. Words on the pulpit are better understood through a demonstration. This group of people from different professions and background got the mandate from God to disseminate the word of salvation through drama, dance and publications.

Precisely in July 1995, a group of brothers and sisters, under the tutelage of Pastor Williams Akinbamijo, (then the RCCG, Somolu Parish Pastor) came together to form a group. The crew met at intervals with a vision to reach out to people in drama, songs, word ministrations and other forms of art. It was agreed that the ministry will be interdenominational, as it will encourage people from other Christian denominations to be part of the cruise. The first programme for the ministry was held in December 1995 at RCCG Somolu. The programme themed “Sweeter than honey” featured drama, songs and word ministration by Brother Karl Lawanson, while Esse Agesse was on ground for music ministration. Subsequently from the year 1996, the ministry began to hold an annual event at the University of Lagos campus. The first to be held in the University was at the Faculty of Education auditorium. The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi graced the 1996 event as he came to minister in the word, while Pastor Deola Mensah of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ministered the word in 1997 programme. Beginning from November 1999, the annual event moved on to Unilag Arts theatre till November 2002 when the University of Lagos main auditorium started to host the event and it has remained the venue of this event which is virtually fixed in the diary of many people.

It was through the ministries that the RCCG in Shomolu began to publish the weekly church bulletin with the first edition in December 1995. The first quarter of 1996 witnessed the conception of a Christian magazine. The first edition of the magazine named Simcha(Hebrew word for Joy) was published in August 1996 with a lead story on how the RCCG in Shomolu was planted.

Creative ministries became an Independent Drama Ministry in 2001 with her registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja, Nigeria.

The ministries, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, have done a number of Playlets, Full stage drama, films and other performing works of art.
